Bill Lee will stop by the Astor House and teach our refined guests a little bit about the dirty work that built Golden City. As an 1890s prospector, Bill will, as delicately as possible, touch on the history of mining in the region while explaining the connection between donkeys, gold and the School of Mines.

For more than 10 years, 4-Ever More, a female a capella singing group, has entertained audiences by combining beautiful harmonies with historical narration. This April, the ladies return with a new show, Music through the Decades. Over its 105-year working life, the Astor House saw many guests and boarders and each passing generation brought with it new forms of entertainment. It takes a certain kind of person to give up his livelihood and head west with hopes of making his fortune during the 19th century, and it takes an even more interesting person to stick around. At this tea you’ll hear a few of the memorable stories about Golden’s first residents as told by Jack Stone. If you’ve ever wondered the best way to fight a duel, take a lesson from George West, the Colorado Transcript founder who occasionally consumed a little too much at the bar but always had the brains to save his skin.
11:30 am & 3:00 pm Luncheons
Old-timey cowgirl duets come to life with Liz and Sue’s close harmonies, yodeling, mandolin and guitar. They weave history and lore around the songs to create a memorable musical ride. In addition to their Western Classics like Tumbling Tumbleweeds, they will perform songs from Liz’s BRAND new Christmas CD, Sleigh Belles. Visit www.LizMasterson.com and www.SusanKDailey.com
